Individual & Couples Counselling
Every age and stage in life brings its challenges. Whether the issue for you is connected to relationships, other personal issues or your current circumstances, counselling can help you identify and free yourself from habitual responses and unhelpful feelings and behaviours.
Grief & Loss
Just as no two of us are identical in our way of being and living in the world, no two of us experience grief in the same way or confront the same challenges in facing the future. Grief and loss counselling can assist you to move through your pain and live the next chapter of your life.
Anxiety & Depression
Generally we seek counselling when our feelings of anxiety and distress reach a point where we need help to feel better. Counselling can help to achieve this short term goal but can also bring about long term change. We can learn to identify patterns in the way we think and what we do and make changes so that we are less likely to repeat patterns which lead to negative consequences in our lives.
Forgiveness & Self-forgiveness
Research shows that those who forgive report greater life satisfaction and healthier interpersonal relationships. Forgiveness means letting go of your need for resentment, condemnation, and subtle revenge toward an offender who acts unjustly. In the case of illnesses or difficult situations, who do we blame? A lack of forgiveness can perpetuate anger, decrease life satisfaction and give rise to depression.
A lack of self-forgiveness can lead to ongoing guilt, shame, confusion, self-condemnation, self-punishment. The emotional, cognitive and behavioural consequences of holding onto self-resentment, shame and guilt can be destructive and debilitating. Processing one’s perceived wrong doing can lead to reconciliation and repair, improved self-trust and self-forgiveness over time.
